actually if you only count reasonable hours 17:00-2300. Then Europes % drops to 5.1%.

This is after only 3 days tho, which is not enough time to determine a trend. But as of now the US had held favor for over 26.5 hours since yesterday.

I love playing in europe, you get to meet all sorts of people from very different cultures. It feels a lot more homely than the US does, more like a town than a spawling metropolis, which I really like. So leaving it will be a sad thing to do.

However since I dislike PvP and adore the UW and Fissure there will soon be no option(unless I want to become a Vampire mesmer and stay up past 3am) than me to move.

I don't blame the EU guild for not putting up a better go of it, I'm sure they all work hard it will be purely down to a system that although a great idea is simply not working. Time to change it

For the record a few of us are noting down the times of when and to whom favour goes. we'll publish it in a couple of weeks so people can see actual data and not conjecture. Hopefully that will provide ANet the data they need to change the way it works.
Well, the Frog and Gaile seem to have been hinting that it would be a benefit for Europeans to stay on their servers, but so little info is given that I'm not even sure that either know exactly what or when, and judging from the people who frequent this forum, as well as the people who I meet up with from Europe on the US servers, it's too little too late. I moved out a month or so back, my guildies are now seriously considering the move too.

The US server certainly has more players on it, but seeing that they are subdivided into more districts, there are just as many quiet districts as there are noisy ones. LA Dist 1 for instance will always be packed, but Dist 5 (for example) will probably have as many players as Euro LA Dist 1, and also other districts of LA will be even quieter.

The timechart you are building looks very interesting, and I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for it in the future

Simply put : Anet don't want to admit they goofed on this particular aspect of the game. In their minds everything is fine with it. I doubt they will change anything in that anytime soon. They have some thick minds in there.

Just read what they said in the last Fansite Friday :

question :
Quote:
Will they ever consider a different way/system for giving people access to the Underworld and the Fissure of Woe? Those are PvE areas, but the access is controlled by PvP - which does not make sense.
Anet answer :
Quote:
Now, in light of this question, I want to say that we are very aware that players in Europe have less access to the Fissure of Woe and The Underworld than players from other regions. This leads us to two things that we can do: (1) We can make adjustments to help balance that access out most evenly, and (2) We can expand content to allow the same type of fun, high-level exploration and combat in other areas that do not have the same sorts of access requirements. Fissure of Woe and The Underworld are both fully optional. Yet we realize they are elite PvP areas, and that for some players, they are the most fun and the most rewarding areas in the game. But consider Sorrow’s Furnace and Grenth’s Footprint. They will be more readily entered – no cost, no timing issues – and they will offer the same quality of experience and reward as Fissure of Woe and The Underworld for high-level players. By offering these new areas, we provide a variety of experiences and opportunities, and we will continue to expand such options in the future.
Look Anet READ THIS : We Europeans paid the same money to buy this game than any american players. Yet, american players can get more from this game than the Europeans. "Optional"? BS!! They ARE in the game, so everyone should have the same chance to access these zone.

That response makes me very angry. It doesn't answer ther question at all, but merely says something along the lines of "Well, we could do something, but....Oh look! We've got Grenth's Footprint & Sorrow's Furnace! How about that then?"

Well, thanks for the update, Anet. We're all looking forward to it, but it still doesn't resolve anything concerning the imbalances in the WaW system and the fact that Europe have more restricted access than the other servers. They are only optional if your server has favour, and to many, they are an option that people would like to take. They are the only sources of shards, ectos, chaos axes, storm bows and other sought-after items & weapons, as well as the ranger's pet spider, the domain for 15k armour and more. Why dismiss them so casually?

I'm sorry to say that the above answer from ANET is very, very disapointing and misses the point completely.

Something can only be optional if you have the choice of taking it or not?

Hopefullly the data I am gathering will shed real and not percieved light on the issue and will help bring closure to one of the most contentious aspects of this game.

Since when were FoW and UW PvP areas? They are tied to PvP certainly - hence this thread, but who are these P's we are supposed to be v'ing against?

FWIW, yesterday whe Europe held favor during peak hours, there were *30* districts in ToA, and in the one I visited there was a frantic scramble to get teams together.
Maybe people didnt get trampled in the stampede to get to FoW/UW, now that it finally was possible to go there, but it can't have been far from it.

If Sorrow's Furnace and the other one is ONLY for Europe, Then I would say right, Anet did the balancing, if it isnt..then..well...Americans and Koreans are getting more for their money, I just got ripped off..plain and simple.

I say: Go for nr. 1! Because any new content available for everyone will sooner or later grow old and boring and than the questions about access to FoW and UW along with the unbalanced Favor of Gods HoH battles will come back again. It will be a never ending story if its not fixed properly. And in the end we all play on American servers and HoH will be the past forever...

Europe this week has had favour an awful lot, it's got favour as I type this post and had it all day a couple of days ago, if any seems to be getting favour a lot less it's korea. Overall America still dominates the favour... but what do you expect, more gamers in America, and definitely a much smaller language barrier problem (I'm guessing it's mainly english and spanish, I wouldn't actually know).... where as on the European servers it can be difficult at times because not everyone on your team can fully understand english.

I don't think the way favour works is a particulary good idea really, it's obvious that one area is going to dominate it, and it's obvious that area is going to be america, not only that, it doesn't exactly fit in with the world of "Tyria"

I'm highly considering switching to the US servers though, just hesitent as of late as I like to meet people from nearby, and we've had favour a fair amount of times recently

I'm British, I don't even consider myself European (and there's a lot of brits who don't),

actually ive noticed the international district getting more and more populated. this is actually good because people in european/korean servers dont need to switch to the american server if theirs is underpopulated. ofcourse this is only for pvp (tombs actually), but still it will make a difference.

anet could get really annoying about it and just assign you a district... its not even that hard to tell where someones approximately located by the IP, but that would be kinda mean. i guess they could do something drastic if people start to really abuse the district switch option. ive never been to the european district myself, but ive been considering it

or more realistically they could just.. not let people from europe switch to an american server. make it a one way transaction. over time it will repopulate.
